Organized in 1972, the Whitman County Historical Society strives to preserve the history and cultural heritage of our region. To do this the society has developed programs designed to meet a variety of interests in the area. The society owns two museums, two historic buildings, publishes a newsletter and a historical journal, and maintains a growing archival collection. In addition, the Historical Society has a number of ongoing projects.
Yogatopia provides educational health & wellness seminars, mind/body fitness classes for the entire family, including cultural education of the arts in areas such as Belly-dance, Zumba, social and formal dance, as well as yoga history and philosophy. Yogatopia is committed to setting the standard for sustainable, healthy living, and community support. Yogatopia uses bike powered generators for all their cycling/spin classes. This combines a passion for fitness and reducing the carbon footprint on our Earth. Yogatopia will continue to find ways to give back and enhance the social network of our area.
Palouse Industries is a community based non-profit organization devoted to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families throughout Whitman and Latah Counties. We are dedicated to serving people with many different skills and abilities from all walks of life.
We provide an innovative, yet time tested curriculum which meets all children where they are and helps them develop into life-long learners and responsible citizens of the world. Our Mission is to provide a carefully prepared environment based upon the Montessori education philosophy, within which children are able to actively participate to realize their full potential.
We are old, young, and in between, we love to dance, meditate, do yoga, and practice together. Some of us never thought of ourselves as "yoga or dancer types," others of us have more experience. We are able-bodied and we have our challenges. We value being a welcoming, inclusive community. We hope that you will join us!
We are dedicated to teach Spanish language to the community.
We have groups for children, teenagers and middle school students entering High School, as well as adults beginners and intermediate levels.
We promote the basic skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing and we especially encourage conversation in class.

- We support and advocate advance-care planning through community-wide outreach.
- We make available and support enhanced training for volunteers serving those at the end of life.
